Geography

The commune of Bascharage is with the communes of Differdange, Pétange and Sanem one of some Luxembourg communes located in the catchment area of the Meuse of share of the Chiers and Mierbech one of its affluents which cross the commune.

Altitude: Between 270 meters with the locality " Tapp " close to Linger and 380 m with the locality " Laamerbierg " in the communal forest between Hautcharage and Clemency.

History

Armorial bearings of the commune

The Armorial bearings were conferred on the commune by large-ducal decree of July 21st, 1969.

Heraldic description

Mouths with the cross moline of money charged as a chief with a lambel of five hanging of azure.

The armorial bearings correspond to those of Raoul de Sterpenich which was one of the lords of Bascharage at the 13th century.

From the point of view Bascharage trades is especially related to a large Brewery which belongs to the group National Brasserie known by its beers ( Bofferding and Battin ).
