Barthelemy Faujas of Saint-Bottom

Barthélemy Faujas of Saint-Bottom (May 17th 1741 - July 18th 1819, Montélimar) is a geologist and vulcanologist French.

Professor and administrator with the national Natural history museum of natural history, it makes several invaluable discoveries, in particular with regard to the volcanic products. He discovers the iron mine of the Voulte-sur-Rhône and that of Pouzzolane in the Velay. He supports the beginnings of the Aérostation while launching subscriptions for the construction of balloons. He helps Jacques Charles first of all then Etienne Montgolfier and Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier.

He also took part in the Natural history of Buffon for the part of geology.

Large traveller, it traversed all Europe almost.
