Barry Hughart

Barry Hughart is an American author of Fantasy, born the March 13rd 1934 with Peoria in the Illinois.

Biography

Its passion for the culture and the Chinese Mythologie pushes it to give rise to the " Adventures of Master Li and Ox Dix" number; , a series being held according to its author in " A China Ancienne which was not jamais".

Master Li Kao, alcoholic old man and brilliance detective (worthy follower of the Judge Ti) and his assistant imposing it Lou You alias Bœuf number Ten carry out their surveys told with much humor in magic China of the 4th century.

The first volume " Magnificence of the Birds " leaves in 1984 in a collection general literature. Success is not with go. The following year, on the intervention of Anne McCaffrey fan of the first days, the Editions Del Rey republish the work, this time in a collection of Fantasy. Success is immediate and the same year, the book receives the prestigious World Fantasy Award (ex-aequo with the Forest of Mythagos of Robert Holdstock) and the following year the price Mythopoeic.

In 1988, " appears; the Legend of Pierre " then, in 1991, " Eight Honourable Magicians ". Barry Hughart envisages a series in seven volumes, but following various leading conflicts, it must give up it. It reproaches its editor for not having informed it on the rewards obtained by " magnificence of the birds " but, into final, it is vis-a-vis the refusal to publish its novels in hard-bound editions that Barry Hughart gives up the writing.

Since, he lives Tucson in Arizona.
