Barristers president

The barristers president is the primus inter pares (first among its pars) of the lawyer S of a Barreau.

Competences of the barristers president in France

  • It chairs the Council of the order, but does not form part of it.

  • It is elected for two years with the majority secret vote with two turns by the General meeting of the Order.
  • It ensures the representation of the Order in justice on authorization of the Council of the Order.
  • It defends and illustrates the profession.
  • It warns and reconciles the various professionals between Avocats, employees, collaborators and employers, between Avocats and Magistrates.
  • It receives the complaints of the thirds and it makes an effort conciler the plaintiff and the Lawyer concerned.

In the event of temporary absence or of prevention, the Barristers president can delegate the totality of his capacities to one or more members of his Council of the Order, in general the former oldest Barristers president or of the members of the Council of the Order.
