Barrier of Ross
The barrier of Ross or platform of Ross () is largest Barrière of ice of the the Antarctic. Its width is of approximately 800 km, and its surface of a half-million kilometer-squares, is approximately that of the France.
The barriers of ice are ice-barriers attached to the ground and constantly supplied with Glacier S.
The barrier was named according to the name of the captain James Clark Ross who discovered it on January 28th 1841. Ross charted it on its East part until 160° of western longitude. Its greater part is in the Dépendance of Ross, asserted by the New Zealand.
