Barrier of Hell
The barrier of Hell was a barrier of Octroi of the pregnant of the Farmers general installed on the site of current the Place Denfert-Rochereau. It comprised two houses built by Ledoux, which always exist. One of them gives access to the Catacombes of Paris.
The principal ways on the basis of the barrier of Hell were the boulevard of Hell (part of current the Boulevard Raspail), the street of Hell (Avenue Denfert-Rochereau and Boulevard Saint-Michel) and the Boulevard Saint-Jacob.
