Barred François

François Barré is a person in charge of French cultural institutions.

After studies with the National school of administration, François Barré integrates the Ministry for Foreign Affairs where it is not long in being bored. In 1967, it will work with Bordeaux near Jacques Chaban-Delmas then he returns to Paris and, on the basis of spontaneous candidature, he is recruited in 1968 by François Mathey within the central Union of decorative arts to set up a “gallery of the daily newspaper” which will become in 1969 the Center of industrial creation (CCI).

With François Mathey, it joined the team of prefiguration of the future Center Georges-Pompidou, directed by Robert Bordaz. The film which it makes carry out by Jean-Louis Bertucelli, the Right to the city, according to the book of Henri Lefebvre, displeases in Robert Bordaz. When François Mathey gives up the direction of the CCI to devote himself exclusively to the direction of the museum of decorative Arts, François Barré sign a petition which requires its nomination of the head of the CCI. Robert Bordaz then decides to give it to the provision of his administration of origin, the Quay of Orsay. François Barré resigns of the public office (1976), not without having to refund in the State his school fees with the ENA.

The January 25th 1990, it is named delegated to the Visual arts with the ministry for the Culture to replace Dominique Bozo, appointed president of the Center Georges-Pompidou. It then succeeds Dominique Bozo in this function the August 4th 1993. It carries out a 3 years mandate at the end which, in 1996, it is called with the direction of the Architecture which has just been created with the ministry for the Culture following the return of this competence, until allotted there to the ministry for the Equipment. When it is decided to amalgamate the direction of Architecture and the direction of the Inheritance, François Barré becomes the first director of Architecture and the Inheritance (named the September 23rd 1998). He preserves this function until the September 28th 2000.

President of the International meetings of Photography of Arles, it carries on an activity of consultant on cultural projects and urban, as in the Seguin Island for the project of foundation of François Pinault (abandoned), in Montpellier for the creation of a center of contemporary art, with Mulhouse and Nice for the artistic order accompanying the realization by lines of tram, with Saint-Etienne for the design of Biennial of the design, and with Nancy for a contest of town planning and architecture.
