Barran

Barran is a common French, located in the department of the Gers and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.

Its inhabitants is called Barranais.

Barran is a country house (strengthened village in squared plan) founded at the end of the 13th century (1279). It sheltered with the Moyen-âge a small community Juive. The archbishop S of Auch installed there their residence of summer to the Château of Mazères, which was used as military Hôpital during the First World War.

The village, of which the economy had always rested on the Agriculture, sudden of full whip of Rural migration at the 20th century.   • Collegial Saint Jean-Baptiste dating from the 12th century, was rebuilt towards 1569, then it undergoes important modifications at the 19th century.
