Barnum Brown

Barnum Brown (1873 - 1963) is a pionner " rush towards the dinosaures" with the Canada. Originating in a family of pionners American, her passion for the dinosaurs goes back to its 16 years when, with his father, it leaves for a long voyage 5.000 km until in the mountains the Montana. Later, still student, it discovers a cranium of Tricératops in perfect state. He is then made a name among the hunters of dinosaurs. The director of the natural history museum of New York ends up engaging it. In 1902 and 1908 it discovers skeletons of T.Rex (exposed today to the natural history museum of Pittsburgh).
In 1909, it is the revolving one of its history when the owner of a Canadian ranch informs him of discovered fossils that it made on his grounds. Barnum then decides to go to the site. Its research leads it towards north of Canada and in the river Red Deer (province of Alberta). The fossils being embedded in high cliffs bordering bank, it was necessary to correctly locate them in order to reach them. Barnum has then the brilliant idea to make use of a flat-bottomed barge containing all the equipment necessary and to tow it along the river. Thus him and its team discovers the zones to dig, invisible top of cliffs. In spite of the rapids and other risks, Barnum discovers many dinosaurs. It gives its name to many species like the Ankylosaurus, the Kritosaurus or the Anchicératops. A whole room of the famous Natural history museum of Natural history of New York east in fact a monument with Barnum Brown. It presents the greatest exposure of dinosaurs of the Crétacé.
