Barnim IV of Poméranie
Barnim IV of Poméranie , known also under the name of Barnim IV the Good (in Polish Barnim IV Dobry ) was born towards 1319 and is deceased the August 22nd 1365. He is duke of Poméranie (duchy of Wolgast).
Barnim IV is the son of Warcislaw IV of Poméranie and Élizabeth of Silesia. He is the younger brother of Boguslaw V and the older brother of Warcislaw V.
Reigning with his/her brothers, Bogusław V entrusts Rügen to him.
The February 24th 1343 with Poznań, Barnim IV and its two brothers conclude an alliance with Casimir III Large the against the Teutoniques. In the event of war between the teutonic Poland and Knights, the dukes poméraniens commit themselves to provide 400 combatants to Poland and preventing the passage by their territory of knight S coming from the west from the Europe to support Teutoniques.
Barnim married in 1343 with Sophie of Mecklembourg - Werle which gave him two wire (Warcislaw VI and Boguslaw VI) and a girl (Élizabeth).
The nickname of Barnim the Good is already given to him in Genealogia bukowska which dates from the 14th century.
