Bariquant and Marre was a company of French mechanics. It existed of 1834 with 1968, date on which it amalgamated with the French company of the Patents LogAbax

History of the company

the House Bariquand was founded in 1834 per Jules Bariquand in a workshop located street Oberkampf at Paris. With the collaboration of his/her Emile son the House became Bariquand & Fils .

In 1860, begins manufacture from sewing machines. For Bariquand, the sewing machine belonged to its production of machine tools of precision.

After the war Bariquand stops the manufacture of the sewing machine and turns to the manufacture of machines specialized for the manufacture of parts of interchangeable rifles. By the quality of its mechanical manufacture, the Ministries for the War and the Marine entrusted important orders to him relating in particular to parts for rifles Chassepot and Gras.

In 1878, Emile Bariquand is the writer of a report/ratio of the international jury of the World Fair of 1878, on the material and the processes of the seam and the clothes industry of clothing.

At the end of the 19th century, the Bariquands Workshops & Fils associated the collaboration of Charles Marre and become Bariquand & Marre .

Into 1900, the partnership Bariquand & Marre is transformed into Public limit company. It exploits workshops of various mechanics and manufacture, 127, rue Oberkampf, street Moret, Impasse Monti and Cité Griset in Paris under the direction of Emile Bariquand.

In 1904, Charles Marre takes the direction of the Workshops to the death of Emile Bariquand. Considered in the precision mechanics, the workshops are the most important company of French machine tool.

Of 1914-1918, the activity of the Workshops consists in carrying out supplies of war, parts for rifles and rockets. It also produces mowers, carburettors for planes, of the machine tools. March 24th, 1918, a shell of the Grosse Bertha falls on the workshop from the street Oberkampf and causes important property damages without victims. A workshop is created has Villeurbanne in October 1918 with an aim of decentralization.

After the war, without military orders, the former activities are developed and of new manufacture are launched, frame for the Sizaire-Berwick cars, water meters and development of electric mowers. The department machine tools in constant reduction is yielded in 1927.

At the end of the year 1928, of the new buildings are bought and arranged, 79, avenue Aristide Briand with Arcueil. The whole of the workshops of Paris will be transferred there during the year 1933.

In 1935, Charles 77 years old Marre transmits its functions to Georges Bariquand, grandson of the founder of the company.

In 1939-1940, taken again manufacture of armaments and apparatuses of precision, continuation of the productions of the mowers.

Into 1946, the Public limit company is transformed into limited liability company until in 1948 where it becomes again SA. At that time in front of the fall of the sales of mowers, the manufacture of dies and combs to be slipped by are undertaken. The electric and industrial Exploitations become majority with the board of directors. The manufacture of the accounting machines LogAbax conceived by Francico Campos is undertaken.

In 1952, the new buildings in edge of the avenue Aristide Briand in Arcueil are finished.

In 1955, the mowers activity is yielded to a company of Thiers and a new manufacture begins: the machine to justify and compose Optype , invention of Sirs Bouffilh and Savigny.

July 1st 1968, the Bariquand Workshops & Marre amalgamate with the French company of the Patents LogAbax and take the name of LogAbax S.A.
