Barenton (to pronounce // or better //) is a common French, located in the department of the Manche and the area Basse-Normandie.
Geography
The commune of Barenton is located at the extreme South-east of the department of the Manche, not far from the borders ornaise and mayennaise. It is near the source of the river the Sélune (with Saint-Cyr-of-Bailleul the).Even if it is not very known, it is one of the most picturesque communes and prettiest of the area.
History
Towards the end of the 19th century, the Parey family had a good part of the borough and in particular much farms.In the years 1960, Barenton is the framework of the beginnings of the car-cross-country race.
The automobile history of Barenton does not stop there. Indeed, the car-cross-country race is a discipline born in Barenton . Thereafter, in 1969, and on the initiative of two pilots of car-cross-country race (Fernand & Maxime), a group of stuntmen amateurs was formed: Fermax.
Administration
Barenton is the chief town of a canton of 4 communes, consisted of Ger, Saint-Cyr-of-Bailleul the and Saint-Georges-with-Rouelley. This canton belongs to the Country of Bay of the Mount-Saint-Michel, and the community of communes of Sélune. Barenton is also included in the Host country of Mortainais.

Natural heritage and built
Thanks to the forest of the Rotted Moor, where passes the way of great excursion 22 (GR. 22) and with an inheritance of the woodlands typical (apple trees, pear trees), Barenton belongs to the Regional natural park Normandy-Maine. It is within this framework that one can find, with Barenton, the House of Apple and Pear, museum devoted to the cider-producing tradition of the area and conservatory orchard.
