Barbizon
Barbizon is a common French, located in the department of Seine-et-Marne and the area Île-de-France.
Its inhabitants is called Barbizonnais. Barbizon is one of the mythical places of the period pre-impressionist in France. As of 1830, which is still a hamlet of loggers will accommodate indeed with the Ganne inn, all the painters who come to seek the inspiration near intact nature. Later, they share their stays between Barbizon and Chailly-in-Beer, finding their subjects in the countryside or the Forêt of Fontainebleau near.

- Barbitio is mentioned in 808 in a document of Charlemagne.

Tourist monuments and places
- the Ganne inn: who is today departmental museum of the painters of the École of Barbizon. It was open in 1824. The decoration and furniture decorated by the artists are of time. One can see some original tables there.
- Hotel trade of Bas-Bréau: created in 1867, it had like host Robert Louis Stevenson of 1873 with 1877.
