Barbieux park
The park Barbieux is located on the commune of Roubaix in the Northern (59) of the France. It is a remarkable park by the presence of many gasolines of trees. It extends on 1,5 kilometers with a surface from 34 hectares.
Geography
The Barbieux park is located at the Western end of the town of Roubaix, along the grand boulevard which connects the center of Roubaix to the center of Lille. The Barbieux park separates in two parts the town of Croix. The neighborhoods of the Barbieux park constitute the richest zone of the town of Roubaix, with many luxeuses houses.
History
In the years 1840, a project to dig a channel starting from Roubaix to connect the Marque had been started. But various technical difficulties lead to its abandonment. In 1859, Henri-Leon Lisot imagines to replace these grounds undulating and this beginning of channel by a city park. Work begins in 1879 and will finish officially in 1905 by order of the prefect.In 1919, the part of the Barbieux park located on the territory of the town of Cross is yielded to the town of Roubaix, which will cause quasi-separation into two of the town of Cross.

The barbieux park is an important place of the leisures roubaisiens.
