History
One finds the name of Barbaste as of 1259 under the C-W communication " Barbasta" ; the assumption of Dauzat and Rostaing is that it was thus named to remember it the town of Barbastro (in Aragon, in Spain) conquered in 1060 by the Chrétiens on the Sarrazins.
