Baratang
Barantang is a island of the Archipel of the islands Andaman, in India. It is one of the principal islands of the group of Grande Andaman.
Barantang is located between Andaman of the center at north and Andaman of the South at the south. The islands of the Archipel Ritchie are located at approximately 20 km in the East. Port Blair, the capital of the territory of Andaman and Nicobar, is located at approximately 100 km in the South.
Baratang has the only known examples of volcanos of mud in India. These volcanos enter sporadically in eruption; it is thought that those of 2005 are related to the Earthquake of December 26th, 2004 in the area. The preceding eruption went back to February 18th, 2003.
The area counts other volcanos: that of the island of Baren, the only active volcano in South Asia, and the Narcondum, considered as in sleep.
