Bar of cut

A bars of cut is a mechanical Organe equipping some agricultural machinery to provide the function of Coupe Tige S of certain plants, primarily grass and cereals. One finds of it in particular on the mowing and the combine harvesters. Its length generally varies from 1,50 to 2 meters on the side reapers up to 9 meters on the combine harvesters.

The traditional cutter bars call upon the principle of Cisaillement, a mobile blade made up of triangular segments, or sections, animated of a fast reciprocating motion. The bar support is equipped with fingers which play a double part: to divide grass into reduced tufts and to be used as counter-blade for shearing. The sections, in Tempered steel, have two sharp sides which must be sharpened regularly. There exists bar of cut to double blade, without fingers. The two animated blades of a contrary movement are maintained in contact by oscillating guides. This system limits the stuffings of blade.

The reciprocating motion of the blades is obtained starting from a rotary movement (generally provided by the Prise of force of the tractor) thanks to various devices: with connecting rod-crank, eccentric… This device can be side or central according to the provision of the bar of cut compared to the tractor or to the machine.

On the traditional reapers, the bar of cut is provided at its ends with two shoes which rest on the ground and ensure the height of cut automatically. On the modern machines provided with raising hydaulic, Vérin S make it possible to control the height of the bar.
