Banu Tamim
Banu Tamim (rear RTL بنوتميم) is an Arab tribe mainly present in Saudi Arabia.
History
They live mainly in the Nejd (central Arabia), the Iraq central and southernmost (Al Basra and Diyala), like in the provinces Iran ienne of the Khuzestan and the Khorassan. The members of this tribe are identifiable with their names, " Al-Tamimi" or " Al-Tamīmī" that one can also spell by " Al-Timimi" and " Al-Temimi".
The tribe appeared at the 1st century, the ancestor of the tribe Tamīm ibn Murr, would have met one of the disciples of Jesus-Christ. By their ancestor, Tamim, the tribe considers that they are the descendants of Adnan and of the prophets Ismaël and Abraham. The tribe, occupied at the 6th century the oriental party of the peninsula before playing a big role with the appearance of the Islam.
They came into contact with Mohammed in year VIII of the Hégire, but they did not convert immediately with Islam. A Hadith of Sahih Bukhari reports that for Mahomet, Tamim will fight the Antéchrist at the end of the world, “I love people of the tribe of Bani Tamim since I heard three things on behalf of the Messenger of Allah on their subjects. I intended it to say: These people will resist against Dajjal , or, Known as nothing on Bani Tamim safe good things, because are those which will fight Dajjal most rigorously.
They are the first to have rejected the authority of the Caliph Abu Bakr, at the time of the great apostasy (Ridda). They converted a little later with Islam and constituted an important component within the Moslem armies. They took part in the revolution of the Abbassides after having supported the Kharijites.
The founder of the dynasty of the Aghlabides in Ifriqiya, belongs to Tamim of the Khorasan. As for Tamim which remained in Arabia, they were combined with Mohamed ibn Abd Al-Wahhab, him even resulting from the tribe and which is the founder of the current Salafiste, called wahhabist.
