Banská Bystrica is a city of the center of the Slovakia (chief town of area). It was also named Neusohl (in German); its Hungarian name is Besztercebánya .
Banska Bystrica, from its position, fact part of the cities best located as Slovakia. It is in its center, with the limit of the Zvolenska basin, on two banks of the river Hron, with the hinge of three vast assembly lines of Slovakia power station: Low the Tatras, the Large Fatra, Slovak metalliferous Mounts. The axis of the area is formed by the valley of Hron, called “Pohronie”, extending since the higher course from Hron, through Banska Bystrica, towards Zvolen. The relief of the area is cut out considerably. The surface waters of the area are evacuated by the Hron river. The forests, made up of many rare species of plants and animals, constitute the great richnesses of the area.
