Banos
Baños , town of Ecuador, located in the province of the Tungurahua, with the foot of the volcano of the same name, along the river Pastaza, to 1840 m of altitude. It counts 20000 inhabitants. It was founded by the Dominican ones and its church is devoted to the Virgen del Agua Santa (Virgin of holy water).
It is the tourist city of Ecuador after Quito and Otavalo. It is famous for the quality of its thermal springs and the landscapes which surround it (many cascades)
One practices there the culture of the Canne to sugar intended for the manufacture of alcohol ( canelazo ). The melcocha , paste containing syrup of cane, is also a speciality of the city.
