Bannockburn

Bannockburn is a village of Scotland located just at the south of the town of Stirling. Its name comes from a small river, Bannock Burn, which crosses it and is thrown in the river Forth. Not far from the village is the site of the Bataille of Bannockburn (1314), gained by the Scottish army carried out by Robert the Bruce at the expense of the England. The village counts also a bridge of stone built by the engineer Thomas Telford. Nowadays, Bannockburn was absorbed in the conurbation of Stirling. In 2001, the covered zone by Bannockburn counted 7.352 inhabitants.
