Geographical surface
The specimens discovered up to now of Banksia rosserae are circumscribed at a zone western south-south of the Magnet Mount, in the west of Australia. This zone is distant nearest of 200 kilometers of the species of Banksia , which represents a significant geographical rupture for the kind. Moreover, its distribution is limited exclusively to the arid region, a habitat which one did not think favourable with the development of Banksia .Banksia rosserae for the first time was discovered by John Cullen in September 2000, on the station of Kirkalocka, with approximately 50 kilometers in the south of the Mont Magnet. In the beginning, two seedlings were discovered, at the top of a Dune. The following year, Peter Olde collected specimen and published a description of the species. In January 2002, a later research led to discovered of six plants, distant of 20 kilometers of the two original plants. Then eighteen additional plants were found, close to the station of Kirlalocka. Although the population is extremely reduced, the species was not declared in the process of disappearance, nor threatened because there exist several settlements, rather important in this place (from now on regarded as an academy for the species); moreover, the plants appeared vigorous and able to be regenerated after a fire.
Taxonomy
The bonds between Banksia rosserae and the others banksias are dubious. They divide certain characteristic features, such as the scaled trunk (?) (“flakey trunk”), with Banksia laevigata .
Culture
The culture of Banksia rosserae is still badly known but should put up with a climate of the Mediterranean type, provided that the plant is well drained.
