Bank of Savoy

The Banque of Savoy is a Savoyard banking institution, whose seat is with Chambéry, in Savoy.

History

The first " Bank of Savoie" with the law of the April 26th 1851 appears. " This company of discount, deposit and circulation (to the capital of 800.000 liras then of 4 millions" issues tickets and obtains the right to make loans with 5% However, the Savoyard ones are being wary with respect to the fiduciary Monnaie. Following the fastening of Savoy in France in 1860, a " affaire" bank of Savoy emerges. The convention of August 24th, 1860 guarantees the privilege at the Savoyard bank for the fiduciary emission of Monnaie. The Banque de France asserts its monopoly and in 1865 absorbs it.

The second " Bank of Savoie" (Re) in 1912 is born from the " the merging of small banks locales" of which the Bank Room . Become a regional private banking, the family Chambre directs the new establishment:

  • Charles Chambre (1880-1942),

  • Jean Room (1909-1999), chairman of 1943 to 1979
  • Jean-Charles Chambre (1939), chairman of 1979

The head office chambérien is destroyed during a bombardment, in May 1944. It is then replaced by a building located boulvard of the Theater.

Group

The Bank of Savoy is attached to CCF in 1993. HSBC becomes the first shareholder of the CCF. This last evolves/moves in 2005 HSBC France.
