Use

The species most studied until now was Banisteriopsis caapi and it is the component main thing of the Ayahuasca. This liana meets in the tropical areas of the Peru, of Bolivia, the Brésil, the Venezuela, Panama and on the peaceful coast of Colombia and Ecuador.

The active ingredients hallucinogens are Alcaloïde S present in the bark. One isolated from it nearly ten and the three principal ones are the Harmine, the Harmaline, and the d-tétrahydroharmine (Kawanishi and Al 1982).
