Bangui , whose population is estimated at 622.800 inhabitants (RGPH 2003), is the Capitale of the Central African Republic. The city is located on Right Bank of the Oubangui, nearly a series of rapids which limits the river transport of the commercial products. The river forms the Frontière between the Central African Republic and the Democratic republic of Congo. The Congolese city of Zongo is located directly on opposite bank of the river.
Industries of Bangui manufacture the Textile S, the food products, the Bière, the Chaussure S, and the Savon. Principal exports are the Diamant, the Coton, the Bois, the Café, and the Sisal. The city was established in 1889. It is the seat of the Université of Bangui.
