The Bangala are the whole of the ethnicities bordering the river (Means-Congo and High-Congo) and its areas bordering in the basin on the Fleuve Congo. This ethnicity is of Sudanese origin or Bantou E and its principal ethnos groups is the Budja, Ngombe, Poto, Doko, Mondunga, Pakabete, Benzale, Bozoki, in the district of the Mongala, and the Ngbandi, Ngbaka, Mbanza, Monzomba, MWe, Libinza, Ngombe, Likoka Ngundu, etc in the district of the North-Ubangi and South-Ubangi.
The identity bangala is not clearly defined, and the difference with the Bobangi is sometimes a ground for dispute. According to certain experts, Bangala sounds residents in the north of the equator and Bobangi those of the south of the equator. The ethnologists gather or assimilate sometimes the various ethnos groups of the river because those share a lifestyle, a culture, a common common language and close languages, territories and often mix in the daily life. However the linguistic and cultural differences between grouping of villages remain. In general a person is not identified with the bangala group but rather with her tribe or her grouping of villages, the bangala group has only one importance at the political level, at the time of the Congolese Crise for example.
