Bandage instability
The band of instability is a practically vertical zone of the Diagramme of Hertzsprung-Russell. It is occupied by pulsating variable stars (including the variables of the type RR Lyrae, W Virginis, ZZ Ceti, RV Tauri, Delta Scuti, SX Phoenix, the Céphéide S and the variables oscillating Ap).
The band of instability cuts the principal Séquence in the area of stars has and F (1-2 solar mass) and extends almost vertically (slightly tilted towards the line) towards the greatest luminosities. The lower part of the band of instability corresponds to the Trou of Hertzsprung on the Diagramme of Hertzsprung-Russell.
