Bananas (new series)

Bananas is a French re-examined of study of the Cartoon and of publication of cartoon founded in 2006 by Évariste Blanchet.

BANANAS published long discussions with authors as well as criticisms of books OF and ON the cartoon. The choice of the interviewed people, operated according to the quality of their work, was made on authors who had expressed themselves little like Xavier Mussat, Frederic Poincelet, José-Louis Bocquet, to which Jean-Claude Forest is added, the creator of Barbarella. The review is with dominant critical but also publishes accounts of Fabrice Neaud, Tignous or Willem. In the same way, the large supplement colors, named Comix, relatively autonomous, is with dominant graphics (Bottaro, Munoz, Ulf K.) but also publishes talks (Tebo, Louis Joos). A very particular care was taken to the manufacture and the choice of paper, which makes BANANAS a rather luxurious review while remaining at a very accessible price.

After the n°1, dated spring 2006, and the n°2, autumn-winter 2006, the site of the review announces its suspension in May 2007, charging this provisional suspension to the lack of interest of the booksellers and the overproduction of comic strips. The specialized journalists, in their large majority, were also blamed never not to have given an account of the review. Certain commentators have advanced a third reason with this failure: the heterogeneity of the two parts of the review, which would have led few purchasers to get the first two numbers.

Contrary to the preceding formulas of 1981 and 1995, the review is currently diffused in bookstore.
