Bambouk

The Bambouk is the name of an area located at horse on the Senegal and the Western part of the Mali (Région of Kayes), including/understanding the Bambouk mounts and the valley of the river Falémé.

History

Gold-field, it was one of the principal production centres of Or between the 12th century and the 19th century century, bringing the richness to the various empires and kingdom during the Histoire of Mali.

Bambouk thus forms part of the Empire of Ghana. It is annexed to the Empire of Mali under the reign of Ouali Mansa wullen. Into the 18th century and 19th century century, it is integrated into the Royaume of Khasso before being attacked by the Royaume will bambara of Kaarta then integrated into the French Sudan by the colonizers.
