Balneário Gaivota
Balneário Gaivota is a city Brésil ienne Littoral southern of the State of Santa Catarina.
Geography
Balneário Gaivota is located by a Latitude of 29º 09 ' 24" south and by a Longitude of 49º 34 ' 46" west, at an altitude of 7 meters.Its population was of: 7307 inhabitants with the census of 2007. In 2000, the population of the municipality was rural to 45%. The municipality extends on 148 km ².
The city is to 244 km in the south of the capital of the State, Florianópolis. It belongs to the Microrégion d' Araranguá, in the mésorégion Southern of Santa Catarina. Located on the Atlantic littoral , it has 23 km of coasts. Balneário Gaivota is accessible by BR-101 starting from Sombrio.
The climate of the municipality is moderate, with a monthly Température average which varies 15°C with 28°C.
IDH of the city was of 0,786 in 2000 (UNDP).
Origin of the name
In the years 1920, a family of fishing S, settles at the edge of small a River ( arroio in Portuguese), which crosses still today the center of the city, giving rise to the locality, then called Arroio C Gildo according to the surname of fishermen in question. The locality takes later the name of praia da Gaivota (“beach of the Mouette S”) with the creation of the district then of Balneário Gaivota during the creation of the municipality in 1995.
History
The territory of the current municipality was occupied at the origin by the Indians Carijós, who made warm welcome with the first European visitors, mainly Spanish.The first Portuguese colonists settle in the area towards 1830. Initially slow and centered on fishing, the growth of the locality accelerates at the end of the 20th century with the development of the Tourisme. In 1990, the city becomes district of Sombrio, then émancipe in 1995 to form an independent municipality.
Economy
The Tourisme is the independent source of income of the municipality. The Agriculture, the fishing and the Commerce are the other main activities of the city.On the level of agriculture, one meets especially cultures of Tabac, Maïs and Manioc, as well as the fruits of passion. The breeding relates to especially the Bovin S, but the principal production of animal origin of Balneário Gaivota is the Miel. Principal industries are those related to the exploitation of the forest resources local.
Tourism
Principal attractions of the city are its Plage S along the Atlantic littoral which attract visitors of the Rio Grande C Sul and south of Santa Catarina. The municipality also comprises many Lac S, like the Lagoa de Sombrio, the Lagoa de Caverá, the lagoa Cortada or the lagoa of Drilled.
