Balneário Arroio C Silva is a city Brésil ienne Littoral southern of the State of Santa Catarina.
Origin of the name
The name of the city comes from a family called “Silva” which had a second home on banks of a brook ( arroio in Portuguese) which led to the sea. The place thus remained knew under the name of Arroio C Silva , until the creation of the district under the name of Balneário Arroio C Silva , “balneário” because the locality is located in seaside.
Geography
Balneário Arroio C Silva is located by a Latitude of 28º 59 ' 02" south and by a Longitude of 49º 24 ' 46" west, with a Altitude of 10 meters.Its population was of: 8089 inhabitants with the census of 2007. The municipality extends on 94 km ².
The city is to 229 km in the south of the capital of the State, Florianópolis. It belongs to the Microrégion d' Araranguá, in the mésorégion Southern of Santa Catarina.
The climate of the municipality is moderate wet, at the hot summers, with a Température annual average of 19,2°C.
IDH of the city was of 0,794 in 2000 (UNDP).
History
The history of the area of Balneário Arroio C Silva starts in the middle of the 18th century. The Tightened Geral and the Littoral of the south of the Brésil are then parcourrus by envoys of the crown, missionaries and soldiers. At the time, the forests of the area are occupied by the Indians Carijós. Gradually, the Tropeiro S establish ways, creating a triangle of circulation between Viamão with the Rio Grande C Sul, Araranguá and Lages, with Santa Catarina. Colonization starts in second half of the 19th century, with the arrival of colonists originating in the the Azores, of Italy and of Germany, like, to a lesser extent, by descendants of African S. the prevalent culture remains however from the Azores culture.In the years 1930, a score family comes to be established in the locality, which is then attached to the municipality of Araranguá. The locality then starts to develop around fishing and of tourism, initially local, then coming from the Rio Grande C Sul. In 1988, the city becomes a district of Araranguá under the name of Arroio C Silva. Lastly, the December 29th 1995, the city reaches the row of municipality and takes the name of Balneário Arroio C Silva.
Economy
The economy of the municipality is based on the Tourisme and, to a lesser extent, the fishing, the breeding, the extraction of Tourbe and its use to manufacture Engrais, the production of Miel and the Artisanat. Tourism concentrates mainly in be while fishing occupies the low-season.
Tourism
The principal tourist attraction of the municipality is its littoral and its 22 km of Plage S. the beach praia da Meta shelters a platform of fishing which makes of it the tourist place more attended littoral of the municipality.Every year, the city accommodates two events of mechanical Sport:
- race of motor bike: on the beach along the sea, it brings together participants of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande C Sul;
- race of truck: organized 15 days after the carnival, the race ( km of Arrancada de Caminhões ) proceeds on the beach, 1 km, start-stop and constitutes one of the principal events of the kind in the world.
Every December 29th, the city also celebrates the birthday of its emancipation.
