The Ballymore Tornadoes are a professional frankness from Rugby to XV Australian, located at Brisbane, founded in 2006 to evolve/move in the Australian Rugby Championship as from August 2007.

Stage

Tornadoes will play Ballymore Stadium, which shelters the buildings of the Queensland Rugby Union and accommodated the meetings of the Queensland Reds until 2006.

Formation

The frankness will be pressed on the players resulting from the clubs located at the north of the Brisbane River which separates the city into two: Sunshine Coast Stingrays, Norths/QUT, Brothers, GPS, Wests and University.

A council made up of a representative of each one of these clubs is charged to manage the frankness. According to Russell Sheil, president of this council, the name of the club is intended to anchor it in the spirit of the public: Ballymore is the historical place of the Rugby of Queensland, while the “tornadoes” are supposed to represent the virtues of the team (“We hope to be powerful, destroying and to leave large damage behind us”).

Tornadoes will carry shirts blue, gray and garnet, this last color being immediately identified in Queensland.

Their players could be selected by the Queensland Reds which evolve/move in particular in the Super 14.

The first tests of recruitment began on April 4th, 2007. In the long term, 28 players, including those evolving/moving in the Super 14 will belong to manpower.

Their local rivals will be the East Coast Aces.
