History
Ballaigues was occupied as of the Roman period, then formed part, during the Middle Ages of the seigniory of Clées, then of Small twine (1302). Under the Bernese domination, Ballaigues was attached to the baillage of Yverdon. The middle-class of Ballaigues was bought in 1521 by the family Leresche (a Protestant noble family) coming from Saint-Antoine-on-Jougne to Burgundy. They bought also many titles with the surroundings with Vallorbe, Orbe etc In 1802 Jean-Baptiste Leresche de Ballaigues renonça with its privileges and the middle-class of Ballaigues after being encouraged by Bonaparte (which was then consul) which had invited it him like 60 other Vaudois dignitaries.
