Ball with the hunter

The ball with the hunter is a sporting Jeu Tradition nel that T. of Moulidars, in 1888, inserted in the category of the “little games of court and courtyard”.

Rules

The Jeu is practiced with a too hard ball not size of that used with the Tennis, in a space released and sufficiently large to contain with ease from 10 to 30 players.

Course of the play

One of the players indicated by the fate, is the hunter. To announce the beginning of the Hunting, it launches three times the ball in the air by catching up with it each time in its hands. This made, hunting is opened and all the other players form the Gibier that the hunter must reach while launching the ball. Each player thus touched, of game becomes dog of the hunter and can in his turn seek to reach game. By doing this, the game is decreasing until there remains nothing any more but one player the representative. When this last is touched, the part is finished.

Characteristics

the hunter can pass the ball to a Gun dog.
a gun dog can pass the ball to the hunter or another gun dog.
As soon as the hunter or a gun dog to the ball in the hand, that is to say that it received it or that it collected it on the ground, it cannot take but one step any more to shoot at game or to pass the ball to one of its fellow-members.
Since there are two gun dogs, the game is authorized to push the ball fallen on the ground while making use only of the feet as to the Football without for that becoming gun dog. If it uses any other part of the body and in particular the hands, it becomes gun dog.
a player belonging to game can however collect the ball on the ground to launch it on the hunter or a gun dog in order to move away the danger. For that, it must take the ball between its feet, make it jump and catch up with it with its hands.

Beginning of the following part

Two practices coexist:

the first player to be touched by the hunter becomes the new hunter.
the last player to be touched, by the hunter or a gun dog, becomes the new hunter.

Notice on the mechanism of the play

The ball with the hunter is a convergent play where the players gradually pass from a situation against all to a situation all against a during the part.
