Baldassarre Peruzzi

Baldassarre Peruzzi , (His, March 7th 1481 - Rome, January 6th 1537), is a painter and an architect Italy N of the Rebirth and, also, a specialist in military architecture. One also regards it as a precursor of the Maniérisme.

Life and work

It comes to Rome in 1503 to study, and alternates the stays with His and Rome. In 1504, it is the assistance of Pinturicchio for the realization of the frescos of the library Piccolomini ( Libreria Piccolomini ) of the cathedral of His.

He works a long time in Rome, in particular with the Villa Farnesina (1509-1511) and with the mosaics of the Sainte-Hélène vault, in the basilica of Holy-Cross-of-Jerusalem. Between 1516 and 1517, he works with the decoration of Sainte-Marie of Peace under the direction of Raphaël.

In 1520, it succeeds Bramante with the work management of the Basilique Saint-Pierre of Rome, being recognized like its best disciple.

In 1527, it is made prisoner by the Spaniards during the Sac of Rome, manages to be made release and turns over to His as architect of the Republic where it builds the new ramparts of the ville.
He is the painter of the frescos of the vault Jean saint of the Dôme of His.

He is recalled to Rome about 1535 by prelates who had appreciated his artistic gifts.

One of its more important realization is the Palazzo Massimo ale Colonne , in Rome.

Its skin rests with the the Pantheon of Rome, at the side of its Master Raphaël.
