Balboa (dance)

The Balboa is a Danse swing born in the Années 1920 on the west coast of the the United States, more precisely in the peninsula of Balboa close to San Diego with the dance hall the " Appointment ".

She generally dances herself in 8 times on musics swing, and its leg movements are more particularly adapted to the fast tempos, without excluding for as much the slow tempos. It is a dance which belongs to some 14 Swing dances recencées nowadays.
The Pure Balboa (Balboa of origin), is not danced only in closed position while the Bal Swing (which was creates ten year afterwards) authorizes opened positions, nowadays both do not do any more but one called BALBOA . The features characteristic of this dance are a connection dancer-dancer by the bust and the basin in closed position, and a basic step slipped near to the movement which one makes when the parquet floor is waxed. It is a dance of contact where the feelings felt by the dancers are close to the Tango.
