Balantidium coli
Balantidium coli is a Espèce of Protiste cilié responsible for the Balantidose at the human one.
Description
It is presented is:
- in vegetative form, of form ovalaire (200 micrometers length for 60 broad) the movements of the lashes are coordinated. The balantidium moves into spiral. It has 2 cores, the macronucleus reniforme or vegetative core, being used for the vegetative functions; the micronucleus, located in the cavity of preceding: it provides the functions of reproduction.
In its posterior area a pore is located: the cytoprocte from where the food residues in the external medium are expelled. One observes with each pole of the cell a pulsatory vacuole which maintains the pressure osmotic by evacuating the water which penetrates in permenance in the cellular body.
-
in the form of cyst: in the external medium, the shape of resistance of balantidium is represented in the form of cyst. Spherical (diameter: 50 micrometer). It is the element contaminating the man by oral way: The balantidium is responsible for sometimes important diarrhea. The Balantidose is a cosmopolitan disease.
