Bakerloo Line

The line Bakerloo ( Bakerloo Line in English) is a Ligne of the Underground, the Métro of London.

Its name is a contraction of “  Baker Street ” and “  Water' loo'  ”, two principal stations which were both terminus of the line at the time of its opening in 1906.

It goes from the North-West towards the south, covers a distance from 23,2  km and serves 25 station S. the principal centers of interest served by this line sont : Regent' S Park, Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus and Waterloo Bridge.

In 2001, 118,4 million Passager S used this line.

History

In the beginning called the Baker Street & Waterloo Railway , the line was built by the Company Underground Electric Railways Company and will ouvra in 1906. Before that, the line was financed by the contractor of the mines and promoter Whitaker Wright. In 1913, the line was to prolong starting from its point of origin that represented the northern terminus with Baker Street towards the west, with exchangers with Great Central Railway, Marylebone and the Great Western Railway with Paddington, and a news with Edgware Road.
