Bainville-with-Willows is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.
Its inhabitants is called Bainvillois.
Geography
Commune being located in the middle of the department of the Vosges at 27 km of Épinal, 17 km of Vittel and 15 km of Mirecourt. Bainville is built on banks of the " the water of the ville" near the Madon. It has a surface of 561 hectares including 110 of communal forest.
History
It is mentioned Bainville in a document which carries the date of 1303. Jean de Dampierre then recognizes like liege man of the duke of Lorraine Thiébaud II.In 1510, Antoine the Good, duke of Lorraine, builds in Bainville a house on an eminence which one names today " Château". Only the well, become communal, remains in last vestige.
From 1633 to 1638, the village sees the passage of many people of war: French, Swedes, Croats and Imperial.
In 1728, Marc Caesar, count d' Hoffelize, require the name change of the commune: it will be called Hoffelize until the Revolution which abolishes the rights of the count.
August 8th, 1831, 17 dwellings of Bainville are invaded by " the water of the ville" following a violent one storm. Water will reach at certain places the height of 4 feet and 9 inches, is approximately 1 m 45.
The church built in 1866, after the commune had refused the enlarging of that of Adompt, was bénite, like its three bells, on October 15th, 1867. The bell-tower was restored in 1954.
Curiosities
- On the heights of the village, the large oak which was planted in approximately 1380, of a circumference of 5m70. It was classified historic building in 1911.
- the bandstand in the center of the village goes back to 1771. It was created by Jean-Baptiste Grandidier withdrawn at the village which in addition to its warheads, was stone mason.
- the named footbridge " bridge of the tablettes" , built as from 1899. This one still nowadays spans the brook which crosses the village. It was restored in 2005 exactly as in the beginning and was inaugurated on September 16th, 2006.
- One can find in Bainville 7 fountains of which 3 are still functional.
