Bailliage d\' Amont

The bailliage was the load and the territory managed by a baillif, who appreciably had the capacity of a Préfet nowadays; the bailliages were them-even divided into Prévôté S.

They were replaced by the departments in February 1790. For the County of Burgundy (Franche-Comté), it is of the Haute-Saône, the Doubs and the the Jura.

In 1333, Philippe Beautiful the creates the bailliage Upstream and the bailliage of Downstream; the bailliage of the Medium is the fact of Philippe the Good in 1422, with dismantling partial of the bialliage of Downstream; the bailliage of Besancon date of 1676, made up of parts of the bailliages of Upstream and the Medium. The County of Montbeliard does not form part of the County of Burgundy.

Old the bailliage of Upstream corresponds to the current department of the Haute-Saône, with, during a time, Gray for capital city; the bailliage of the Medium corresponds to part of that of the Doubs, and the bailliage of Downstream corresponds to that of the the Jura.

The County of Burgundy

It will be the Franche-Comté. Also called high Burgundy , in opposition to Burgundy itself i.e. the Duchy of Burgundy.

Bailliage d' Amont or of Gray

It extends to north from the province with the south-western slope from the the Vosges, the plate of the high Saone and the area of Baumes the Nuns. The chief town is Vesoul and the economic center is Gray.

Bailliage d' Aval or of Saline

It extends to the south.
