Baillet-in-France

Baillet-in-France is a commune of the Val-d'Oise located in flat of France, to orée of the Forêt of Isle-Adam and to approximately 20 km in the north of Paris.

Its inhabitants are Baillotin (E) S.

Geography

The commune is bordering on Moisselles, Bouffémont, Chauvry, Montsoult, and Attainville. It extends to the southernmost foot from the slopes from the forest from Isle-Adam on the Plaine from France.

History

The name of Baillet probably comes from Latin baliolum , perhaps derived from the Celt bali , gone of shade.

The site is occupied as of the O C as the discovery of a rural settlement attests it on its territory. The village for first time is mentioned in 832 in an act of the Abbaye of Saint-Denis. The stronghold, possession of the counts of O to the the Middle Ages, develops around its feudal castle, before becoming a possession of the Guise which plunge the area in the wars of religion. The duke of Choiseul - Praslin aquiert the village at the 19th century and becomes the benefactor about it; it makes pass the commune in the modern era. The village is plundered during the Guerre of 1870. The castle is bought in 1930 by the fraternal Union of the metallurgists of the Paris region which transforms it like its park into recreation park with the introduction of the Paid vacations into 1936.

Church Saint Martin's day (- 19th centuries) The chorus, the part oldest (1529), could be the old vault of the lords of O. The square tower was altered in 1760.

Statue of Notre-Dame de France This statue of the Virgin crowned the house of the the Vatican during the World Fair of 1937. It had gone up in the middle of the plain of France in 1988.
