The commune is crossed by the Gave of Pau and its affluents, the arriou of Bardy and the brooks of Montlong and Lataillade (13,7 km), like by the tributary of this last, the Peyre brook.

Toponymy
The toponym Baigts-with-Béarn appears in the forms Baigs (XIIIe century, Fors de Béarn), Baigx and Bags (respectively 1318 and 1343, titles of Béarn), Bachs (1505, notaries of Garos), Batz and Vagtz (respectively vest 1540, and in 1548, reformation of Béarn), Baitz (1582, alienations of the diocese of Dax) and Baigts (1863, topographic dictionary Basque Béarn-Country).The name Baigts (Chart of Cassini) means “Vallée” in Gascon. but according to Michel Grosclaude this significance is to be drawn aside, Baigts which can come is of vallis , valley but so hollow, depression or of vallum , palisade, cutting off.
One finds in the old borough a street of Embarrat}} (= reduced strengthened), there is not any doubt that the named villages Baigts, Bats, Vals or Valleys were surrounded by circumvallations (of Latin vallum ) .
Restored in its language, the name is Vaths .
History
Paul Raymond note which the commune depended on the Diocèse of Dax and was the chief town of the notairie of River-Gave, name of an archpriest of the diocese of Dax which drew its name from the Gave of Pau.In 1385, the commune counted 59 fires.
