Baidoa
Baidoa ( Baydhabo in Somali) is a city of the south-western of the Somalia. It is the capital of the administrative area of Bay, which was initially inhabited by the clans Digil and Mirifle.
Recent events
Vis-a-vis the rise to power of the Union of the Islamic courts, Masters of most of the country, the president of the federal government of transition, Abdullah Yusuf Ahmed, took refuge in Baidoa in 2005.The government Ethiopia N is anxious military victories of the Islamic courts, which conquered Mogadiscio and which have advanced with approximately 60 kilometers of Baidoa. Allied in Abdullah Yusuf Ahmed, Ethiopia decides in 2006 to deploy its forces at the border of the two countries. Then, the July 20th, sends part of these forces in the area of Bay, a hundred military vehicles being in particular announced by journalists to Baidoa, which contradicts the Ethiopian government.
