Bai Juyi
Bai Juyi (or Bo Juyi, in Chinese Language 白居易, 772 - 846) is a Chinese writer of the Dynastie Tang. Undoubtedly under the influence of the movement for the old language of Han Yu, it wanted to return to a more direct poetry, simpler; it took as a starting point the popular songs; it is said that it preserved only the poems which its maidservant included/understood.
Biography
It was born with Xinzheng in a poor but educated family. To the ten years age it was sent close to Chang' year for its schooling. It passed the jinshi (imperial Examen) in 800. Its official career was successful at its beginnings: he became member of the Académie Hanlin of 807 until in 815, when he was exiled for dispute. Its career began again when it was named prefect of Hangzhou (822 - 824) then of Suzhou (825 - 827).
