The ground beside the distinct one which separated Bamun and current Bafoussam was very rich. One called this ground, fù 'sap. The first inhabitants came from Bamun (precisely of the Tikar plain) as the Baleng of which they are brothers. The main leaders who controlled Bafoussam are: Fotié; Tagho; Mambou 1919 - 1933; Tchountchoua Paul 1933-1958; then Ngompé Elie. Today, the chief of the village and current mayor are Njitack Ngompé Pelé.
