It resulted 30 from them Enclave S: 22 Belgian enclaves in the Netherlands and 8 enclaves Dutchwomen in Belgium.

Currently, the commune of Baerle-Duke is thus made up:

  • Of 6 enclaves disseminated between Baarle and the border;
  • Of 4 fragments located on the tape frontialière (and thus attached to Belgium), one two including in particular the hamlet of Zondereigen.

Reciprocally, seven of the enclaves Dutchwomen are located inside even Belgian enclaves of Baarle; the eighth being localized in the village of Zondereigen.

The size of these enclaves varies. Some are made up only of one piece of ground of a few tens of m ² of surface. In Baarle, it is not rare to find houses divided by the borders and which extend to horse on the two countries.
