Badoit

Badoit is a mark of mineral Water naturally gas belonging to the group Agroalimentaire French Danone, division Eaux .

Its source is at Saint-Galmier in the department of the the Loire.

water Badoit is collected with several sources: Fontfort , Central , Courbières , New , Rémy , Roman Christmas and , all located on the commune of Saint-Galmier.

Properties and analytical composition

the mineral water of Badoit supports the digestive functions because of its physicochemical composition: free presence of Carbonic gas and Bicarbonate S of Calcium, Sodium and Magnesium.
Badoit is one of the gas French water mineral richest in magnesium. This contribution can constitute a complement useful for the food intake.

History

the source is known in the Antiquité. Roman thermal baths were found there.

With the XVIIIe century, water is prescribed by the local doctors.

1778, the adviser and ordinary doctor of the king Louis XVI, Richard Martin de Laprade studies the virtues of this water.

1837, Auguste Badoit , 36 years old, obtains the Fermage source Fontfort located at Saint-Galmier with the top of the plain of Forez.

1845, to avoid competition, Auguste Badoit buys other sources which will bear its name.

1848, the lease of the Fontfort source is not renewed. Decision to forsake hydrotherapy and to market Badoit out of bottle.

1858, Death of Auguste Badoit , his wife and her daughter succeed to him.

Badoit sells 1,5 per annum million bottle.

1859, Transfer of the company to a local competitor, the company Andre , the husband of the girl of Auguste Benoit , Benoit Cherbouquet keeping the direction of the source.

1870, the bottles out of sandstone are sealed.

1874, Appearance of a label on the bottles.

1876, Purchase of the Central sources of Saint-Galmier.

1879, Badoit is marketed in half-bottle for the Parisian market.

1883, Badoit obtains a glassmaking with Veauche for the manufacture of its bottles. That makes it possible Badoit to limit the cost of purchase and the transport of its empty bottles.

1886, Purchase of the sources Courbière and New .

1888, Gold medal with the World Fair of Rome, and money to that of Barcelona.

1893, Badoit becomes a Public limit company.

1894, Purchase of the sources Rémy and Christmas .

1897, Badoit is recognized of public interest by the Académie of medicine.

1905, Badoit gains the Grand Prix of the World Fair of Marseilles.

1910, Purchase of the source Roman .

Badoit gains the Grand Prix of the World Fair of Brussels.

1913, Replacement of the cork stopper by the metal capsule.

1954, Badoit leaves pharmacy and enters large surfaces. The sales take off.

1958, the annual production reaches the 37 million bottles.

1960, Badoit joins the Société of Mineral Water of Evian known under the name of Evian.

1965, Badoit amalgamates with Evian.

1967, the annual production reaches the 57 million bottles

1970, Repurchase of Evian-Badoit by the group BSN, future Danone.

1972, Falls of the annual production to 37 million bottles, identical to the production of 1958.

First televisual commercial.

1973, the bottle becomes in PVC. Glass is preserved for the restoration.

1983, the bottles are equipped with screwed plugs.

1988, Launching of Badoit aromatized mint and lemon.

Badoit carries out a very confused production of 240 million bottles.

1989, the color of the bottle becomes green translucent.

1999, the bottles are now in FART.

Danone ex- BSN disengages its die glass. The glassmaking of Veauche is taken again by the company BSN Glasspack pertaining to the American group Owens Illinois .

2001, Launching of Badoit Vertigo , a water with various fruit juices, the main door in the universe of the software drinks .

2004, Launching of the red Badoit , a water with twice more bubbles.

Badoit today

300 million bottles all formats produced.
25% is intended for the circuits except large surfaces.
In 2003, Badoit accounts for 16% of the market of aerated waters in France.
Environ 200 people work on the site.
