Badoit

Badoit is a mark of mineral Water naturally gas belonging to the group Agroalimentaire French Danone, division Eaux .

Its source is at Saint-Galmier in the department of the the Loire.

  • water Badoit is collected with several sources: Fontfort , Central , Courbières , New , Rémy , Roman Christmas and , all located on the commune of Saint-Galmier.

Properties and analytical composition

History

  • the source is known in the Antiquité. Roman thermal baths were found there.
  • 1778, the adviser and ordinary doctor of the king Louis XVI, Richard Martin de Laprade studies the virtues of this water.

  • 1837, Auguste Badoit , 36 years old, obtains the Fermage source Fontfort located at Saint-Galmier with the top of the plain of Forez.

  • 1845, to avoid competition, Auguste Badoit buys other sources which will bear its name.

  • 1848, the lease of the Fontfort source is not renewed. Decision to forsake hydrotherapy and to market Badoit out of bottle.

  • 1858, Death of Auguste Badoit , his wife and her daughter succeed to him.

    • Badoit sells 1,5 per annum million bottle.
  • 1859, Transfer of the company to a local competitor, the company Andre , the husband of the girl of Auguste Benoit , Benoit Cherbouquet keeping the direction of the source.

  • 1970, Repurchase of Evian-Badoit by the group BSN, future Danone.

  • 1972, Falls of the annual production to 37 million bottles, identical to the production of 1958.

  • 1973, the bottle becomes in PVC. Glass is preserved for the restoration.

  • 1983, the bottles are equipped with screwed plugs.

  • 1988, Launching of Badoit aromatized mint and lemon.

  • 300 million bottles all formats produced.
  • 25% is intended for the circuits except large surfaces.
  • In 2003, Badoit accounts for 16% of the market of aerated waters in France.
  • Environ 200 people work on the site.
