The Bade (in German of Baden ) is a territory of the South-west of the Germany bordered in North by the Hesse, in the East by the Wurtemberg, in the west by the Alsace and in the South by the Suisse. It forms a corridor occupying part of the plain of the the Rhine and Black Forest. It owes its name at the town of Baden-Baden, in the past called Baden .
It forms today part of the Land of Bade-Wurtemberg.

The main cities of Bade are Karlsruhe, Baden-Baden, Constance, Freiburg-in-Brisgau, Heidelberg, Mannheim, Offenbourg, Kehl and Old man-Brisach.
History
Bade was a State and formed successively part of the Saint Germanic Roman Empire, of the Germanic Confédération, the German Reich then of the the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Middle Ages
The country is set up in margraviat ( Margrafschaft ) at the 11th century by Hermann de Zähringen, then parcelled out in three houses of the 12th century until in 1503: Baden-Baden, Baden-Hochberg and Baden-Sausenberg. By a succession of heritages, the totality of the strongholds known as of Bade returns to Christophe Ier de Bade-Bade, but for one short duration. As of 1527, poked by a religious antagonism, a new division is made between the two wire of the margrave late, which create two new rival houses: Bade-Bade (catholic) and Bade-Durlach (Lutheran).
Modern time
The reunification intervenes in 1771, by extinction of the branch of Baden-Baden, and the meeting of both margraviats on the head of Charles-Frederic de Bade-Durlach.In 1806, under the impulse of Napoleon, the voter Charles-Frederic de Bade is one of the signatories of the treated of Paris of the July 12th which founds the Confédération of the Rhine. He receives the title of large-duke of Bade, as well as important territorial extensions thus conferring a territory of only one piece to him; n the other hand, it is committed providing to the emperor of the French a quota of: 8000 men.
The margraviat then becomes a Grand Duchy functioning like a Sovereign state, established in hereditary constitutional monarchy. Its constitution dates from the August 2nd 1818.
The Grand-duché of Bade becomes a Land of the German Reich in 1871.
Contemporary time
After the Second world war, the zone of French occupation which occupies the southern part of the State becomes a distinct territorial unit with Freiburg-in-Brisgau like capital, the Land of Bade, while the northern part amalgamates with the North of the Popular republic of Wurtemberg to form the Land of Wurtemberg-Bade. In 1952 Bade, Wurtemberg-Bade and the Württemberg-Hohenzollern meet to form the Land of Bade-Wurtemberg.
A project of European District, managed jointly and comprising part of the the Low-Rhine centered on Strasbourg and part of the district of the Ortenau centered on Offenburg in the country of Bade, is in negotiation between France and Germany. A similar project should be concretized on the triangle Colmar - Freiburg - Mulhouse.
Economy
The country of Bade is one of the zones of Germany having more the high level of life, this thanks to:
- a prosperous and diversified Industry developed along the Rhenish axis (chemical with BASF with Ludwigshafen, mechanics with DaimlerChrysler with Rastatt, etc);
- a fertile Agriculture (in particular fruit-bearing and wine);
- growth of the services in particular of transport and logistics, without forgetting the Tourism and the Hydrotherapy.
The International airport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg is the only airport perfectly binational in the world.
Population
In 1900, its population counted: 1725500 inhabitants of which: 1057417 catholics.
