History

The site reveals traces of settlement since the age of iron. Constructions appear at the Gallo-Roman era, along the hill of Foussa. A part of them are of troglodyte type. In parallel, the exploitation of the stone of Bad tempers starts.

To the 16th century, Rognes belongs to the lords of Agoult. In 1597, Julie d' Agoult, last representing of the family, marries Henri de Raphelis. She preserves her seigniories. Very rigid on its rights and preferences, it tries to make prohibit the inhabitants from affixing their weapons on the houses and ramparts. The consuls of Bad tempers refused vigorously. The Sénéchal of Aix-en-Provence gave reason to the consuls. Those created the weapons of the city then, of azure to the money bolt, with the currency “Closes well, which being able all to close, does not close anything. ”

In 1909, a seism cuts down most of the houses located on the sides of Foussa. Only some houses and lanes remain of the old Bad tempers.
