Bad Religion
Bad Religion is a Californian group of Punk-rock'n'roll, melody Punkcore and Punk hardcore recognized for its songs with the poignant, reflected words and criticisms towards the company.
History of the group
The group was created with Los Angeles, in California, 1980 by Greg Graffin, Jay Bentley, Jay Ziskrout, and Brett Gurewitz then schoolmates. They left, in 1981, their first homonymous recording on the label Punk independent rock'n'roll Epitaph Records created and managed by Brett Gurewitz. In 1982 did the group leave its first album How Could Hell Be Any Worse? , which widens their audience. During the recording of this one, Jay Ziskrout left the group and was replaced by Peter Finestone. In 1983, the group left the album Into the Unknown decorated psychedelic gimmicks of Rock to the piano. This album was very unpopular near the fans. Bad Religion repudiated it and even a time the diffusion ceased some. However, later, the album in question become a " collector" , a little consideration on behalf of the fans found, who regard it as a good album, but not representative of Bad Religion. Maintaining this album, sometimes pirated, can be sold for more than 100 dollars on eBay. In 1984, the group turned over to a sound plus rock'n'roll with the EP Back to the Known , but the group separated little from time afterwards.
The group was reformed in 1986 and left, the same year, the album Suffer, which cemented its return on the punk scene. This album is regarded as one of best group and would have " sauvé" the Californian punk scene, according to its fans.
The albums No Control , left in 1989, and Against the Grain , left in 1991 like Generator , left in 1992, increased the popularity of the group more. Before the recording of the album Generator , Pete Finestone gave up the group in 1991 to be devoted to The Fishermen, its own group. Bobby Schayer replaced it. Then, the album Recipe for Hate left in 1993. While the music alternative Rock'n'roll and the music Punk rock'n'roll remade their appearance on the large market, Bad Religion gave up Epitaph Records, to sign with Atlantic Records and arose Recipe for Hate on this label. In fact, Epitaph had sold the rights of this album to Atlantic. In 1994, the group left then the album Stranger Than Fiction , but Gurewitz left the group at this time. He showed the group to be " vendu" with the label Atlantic Records. Moreover, Gurewitz was dependant with the Héroïne like with other drugs, which caused tensions in the group. After having left Bad Religion, it founded thereafter its own group Daredevils.
Gurewitz was replaced thereafter by the guitarist Brian Baker, one of the founders of groups such as Minor Threat and Dag Nasty. The albums which followed the arrival of Baker had an average success. Since their popularity was not any more what it was, Bad Religion left Atlantic Records in 2001 and turned over to Epitaph. Bobby Schayer also had to leave the group because of a serious wound to the shoulder. It was replaced by Brooks Wackerman group Suicidal Tendencies and Gurewitz again joined the group for the recording of The Process off Belief in 2002. In June 2004, The Empire Strikes First left on Epitaph. Did the group also arise, this same year, good number of their preceding albums of which How Could Hell Be Any Worse? , Suffer , No Control , Against the Grain , and Generator . The 2nd edition of How Could Hell Be Any Worse? contains also all their first titles, as well as the songs " Service" public; and " Back To The Known".
Recently, in May 2005, on The Bad Religion Page, one reports that Greg Graffin would have said that the group was going to record, later in the year, an album whose exit is planned for 2006. A live DVD is born also, heading Live At The Palladium , it makes great noise near the fans of the groups by the quality of its realization and its setlist taking again the innumerable tubes of the groups. The exit of the DVD precedes by little that of the second album solo of Greg Graffin, Cold ace the Clay on July 11th, 2006.
The last album of the group of the group, New maps off Hell left on July 10th, 2007 to the United States.
